Hey guys, I'm a pretty big n00b when it comes to electronics, so this may be simple to answer, but here goes: I have not a clue what the previous owner did with my Z's audio system. The OEM Bose head unit was swapped out for a cheap Clarion HU, which I would like to change, but I have no clue what he did in terms of the speakers. The front speakers' sound quality isn't great, and when I turn up the volume, it becomes really "fuzzy", so I'm assuming they're the stock Bose's. However, when you change head units, do you necessarily have to change speakers? I remember reading somewhere about the stock bose amp not being compatible with after market head units or something along those lines? Here's my real question though, I'm not too sure why, but the previous owner completely removed the rear speakers, and replaced them with two metallic enclosures. I went ahead, and ordered two rear speakers from a tt.net member, and I decided I'd try and put them in today. I thought it'd be plug and play - I removed all the trim, attached the rear speakers where the enclosures were, and plugged in the blue connector, and when I turned on the stereo, there was absolutely no sound, as if the rear speakers weren't getting any power at all. Why is this so? Is there something about installing an after market HU that prevents power being sent to the back? Even though the rear bose speakers probably wouldn't have sounded good, I was still pretty disappointed.
